The Current Situation

We know by now you’ve received an email from Amanda Pritchard, the Chief of NHSE, explaining more about what will be the new NHS England. that will absorb HEE

For the first time, this spoke about the new organisation not only bringing together us to be part of NHS England, but that very shortly afterwards, the new organisation will be significantly smaller in staff number than it’s current establishment; in fact, over 30% and anything up to 40% smaller.

NHS England have collated to start a page of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We know you’ll be concerned about what this means for you!

This news has already been reported in various ways, in the Health Service Journal (you may need a subscription) and in the Daily Mail.  It causes completely understandable worries for us all – mainly because there is not yet any clear plan for the way in which these changes will be made.

Your UNISON is already campaigning for you!

  • Unison hold the Staff side Chair of NHS England and HEE, and also the Chair of the Trilateral Partnership meetings which span all three impacted organisations. This is really important to ensure consistent messaging and communications across all three organisations.
  • Unison and MiP stewards are on HEE’s Partnership Board, and we’re continuing to raise concerns there.
  • Unison is campaigning to see the business case and board paper for all these proposals.
  • We are in the process of setting up workshops to influence the modelling of the future organisation and protect jobs through transfers out to the wider NHS if necessary, rather than any compulsory redundancies.
  • UNISON and our partner organisation Managers in Partnership recently had some very productive discussions with manager colleagues in HEE where we were able to give some practical advice on the way to protect member’s interests whilst still ensuring that we’re all delivering a great service to the NHS.

We need your help too!!

We need to stand together, now, more than ever.

The stronger the union is, the more power we have as we move into what is going to be a turbulent transition. It really is as simple as that.

If you’re not already or your membership has lapsed, join today https://join.unison.org.uk/ and ask colleagues to join

As a current member, if you are interested in doing more to help us, like becoming a Steward, then please let us know!

Any questions?

Please contact us or your branch and they will direct your mail to us.

We know there will be further communication from UNISON shortly.

For now, we want you to know that we’re here, campaigning and listening.

With very best wishes,
