The ballot papers for the NEC elections are going out on Monday 3rd April. Make sure you vote

UNISON rules allow branches to publicise who they have nominated, which in our case is;

Bernie Parks & Michelle Goodman for south west seats; Jordan Riviera, Roger Hutt & Neil McAlister for Health seats, Kieran Grogan & Janet Bryan for Community Seats;  and Paul Homes, Andrea Egan/Jane Doolan & Paul Gilroy for Local Government seats

These candidates are from the UNISONaction slate who were the ones who took the most trouble to contact us and ask for our support and in the case of Berny Parks was best known to activists in this branch. Berny is Chair of Dorset Unison & works in children’s social work. He’s been active in Dorset for 20 years, prior to which he spent 10 years as a Policeman. He has been supportive to local government activists from Plymouth engaging at regional and national level for as long as any of us can remember

More important are the manifestos reproduced below

Berny highlights Unison needs to break the Public Sector 1% pay cap noting MPs awarded themselves 11%. He feels we need strong leadership that defends our public services whilst ensuring members and branches are supported and not left isolated in struggle and conflict.

Andrea Egan

Unison should have a leadership which ensures our union punches its weight and does not leave members and branches to fight alone. Unison should

  • Oppose further Austerity/attacks on our services
  • Resist further attacks on our pensions and terms and conditions
  • Defend our NHS from privatisation and closures of hospitals and services
  • Break the Tory 1% Public Sector pay cap when MPs award themselves 11% increases
  • Fight Racism and scapegoating of migrant workers

Michelle Goodman SW Female NEC seat

Oppose austerity .

Resist attacks on pensions and T&Cs .

Fight racism .

Defend the NHS from privatisation and hospital closures .

Break Tory 1% public sector pay cap (MPs awarded them selves 11%)

We need a strong leadership in Unison who supports it’s members and branches and does not leave you to fight alone.

Jordan Rivera
Organised to have big picket lines outside his hospital when our union has called us out on strike. Is committed to campaigning for the NHS.
Like us he thinks UNISON should
· defend the NHS from privatisation and hospital closures
· break the Tory 1% pay cap (when MPs award themselves 11%). We work hard and deserve more.
· Fight racism

These themes chime strongly with the thoughts expressed in meetings of this branch and with campaign activities we have undertaken
