Online Health and Safety Stage 1
30 hours over 5 weeks including online sessions on dates below:
12, 19, 26 November, 3 & 10 December – 9.30 am – 4.30pm
This course is aimed at new Health and Safety Representatives and will cover:
- The role of the H&S Rep
- The rights of the H&S rep and health and safety law
- Responsibilities of the employer
- Carrying out workplace inspections
- Understanding Risk Assessment
- Organising around health and safety issues
- Raising health and safety issue with the employer

Most courses are still on-line until January – we have a mix of short and certificate courses and for the first time in a while the Diploma programme is back in the South West – offering the Employment Law as an evening class and the Occupational Health & Safety as a day class.
Short courses (3 days) – Menopause in the Workplace and Mental Health Awareness (On-line) and a new course for women trade unionists in the south west – Women into Leadership – a course to inspire, develop and support more union women to step up and take the lead in our movement.

Level 2 Diploma in Employment Law (36 Tuesday evenings from September to July)
Level 2 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (Classroom/on-line – Blended) – initially on-line (9.30 until 4.30) after half term one day a month in Bristol
– the other 3 days a month on-line – there is an option to do all the course on-line
Qualification requirements for the diploma’s – you must have already completed the TUC Stages 1 and 2 or own union equivalent courses.

With ACAS Mike Gardner and Marina Gallagher, TUC’s Deputy General Secretary Paul Nowak, and Thompson Solicitors’ Julie Brodie on flexible working rights, guidance and union priorities.
