Holocaust Memorial Day 2020
The Holocaust remains the greatest crime in history. Over 6 million Jews were murdered by the Nazi regime, as well as millions of others—including Roma, LGBT+ people and trade unionists.
Yet we live in a world where antisemitism, racism and Islamophobia are on the rise again. We must oppose attempts to divide us along the lines of race, religion or ethnicity.
Far right and fascist forces are growing. Many of them deny the horrors of the Holocaust, and are whipping up racist scapegoating. In Britain, we have also seen the systematic demonisation of migrants and Muslims, and a rise in hate crime, including increased incidences of antisemitic attacks and graffiti in our communities.
We say NEVER AGAIN. Remember the victims of the Holocaust and commit to the fight against racism today.
Plymouth in UNISON works with a variety of anti-racist organisations such Stand Up To Racism hosting events to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day and they are meeting on Thursday of this week at The Quaker House on Mutley Plain. We will also be supporting the annual UN Anti-Racism Day event on March 21st #WorldAgainstRacism
