Following the DHSC’s decision to withdraw the temporary Covid terms and conditions for Covid sick pay/special leave for AfC staff, the Staff Council has worked on some joint guidance covering implementation of the department’s decision.
The guidance covers the timeline and stages for reverting to AfC handbook sickness terms and also makes clear that
- all absence on the Covid sick pay provisions is disregarded for the purposes of contractual sick pay entitlement and absence management triggers
- staff who need to stay away from work for infection control reasons (positive test or symptoms) – but who are well enough to work – should receive their full pay and either be provided with work they can do at home, or be put on ‘authorised absence’ (not sickness absence)
The guidance, which has also been sent out via NHS Employers networks this evening, can be found here:
Further advice for branches on using the guidance will go out in Health News next week.
Many thanks for your help
