Update Thanks to all those who responded to this ballot, the result was very clearly to support the re-selection of Luke Pollard without a full selection process
Fraternal greetings to members of the Unison Labour Link (formerly the affiliated political fund)
I know what you’re thinking, I only ever hear from politicians when they want my vote.
Well that is kind of true with this. Labour Party Rules state that all Branches and affiliates have the opportunity to “trigger” a selection process to consider alternatives to a sitting MP.
Plymouth in UNISON is affiliated to Sutton and Devonport CLP (along with some others locally) and so has a say in that process which is currently taking place
Now we don’t have to go beyond this yes or no survey of opinion, and clearly Luke Pollard would like to be endorsed without advertising the post to all comers. I have attached a Whips report and a piece from him stating his case directly
If you have a view on this matter please respond with an e-mail to email@example.com
Please title the e-mail “Trigger” and state either “I want a full selection process” or “I wish to re-select my MP”
If you could also state your full name and/or unison membership number and which Parliamentary Constituency you belong to please.
Feel free to add anything else you think Labour needs to here from Unison or vice-versa.
It would also be good to hear from anybody who would like to help with campaigning. I think we can expect a general election sooner rather than later and I don’t think our public services will easily survive another five years of Tory rule.
