Plymouth TUC International Workers Day Festival

Provisional Timetable for May Day

11am Assemble at the Sundial for a short march through the 3 old towns to Devonport Guildhall. Arrive 12.00 (subject to change re weather etc)

Main Hall

1pm Keynote Address from FBU General secretary Matt Wrack

2pm Talk by the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign

5pm Banner Theatre present – a performance based on the Chicago Teachers Strike

Plus Campaign stalls all afternoon (Tables available from£25) Booked so far Plymouth in UNISON, Unite, NUT, PCS, Stoke Ward Labour Party, Plymouth SWP, Stand up to Racism, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, CND, bookstall and face painting for kids (or big kids)

Downstairs Meeting Room

Workshops, The war on benefits (Claimants Union) The Trade Union Act (Thompsons Solicitors) Axe the Housing Act (Kevin Neil) 1917 and all that (tbc)

The Bakehouse Cafe will also be open until 4pm as will the Gallery in the Cells

Plymouth Radical Cinema Present – 1.30pm I Daniel Blake – 3.30pm The Battle for Orgreave

Column Acoustic Present – 7pm – 11pm Live Music from

  • Gavin Randle, as always with saxophone stylings
  • Dmitry, now with fab cellist
  • Plankwalkers, new to Column Acoustic: “The Plankwalkers are a fishy stew of a band. Glam folk cabaret-shanty-music hall…” Sounds cute.

This is a free Event funded by the local TUC through trade Union Sponsorship but there will be a charge of £4 on the door of the Parlour for the music part of the event and access to the bar
