Get Active 2019

25th January 2019 - 26th January 2019

Get Active will be held at Somerset County Cricket Club on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th January 2019.

As agreed at National Delegate Conference in June, 2019 will be the “Year of Young Workers” and as a result our regional event follows that theme. We have designed the event to have Young Members in mind and we’d love to have as many members under 27 there as possible but it is open to any UNISON member to attend.

All of the details are on our website here:
https://southwest.unison.org.uk/events/get-active-2019/

Workshops
We have thirteen workshops to choose from. Delegates are able to select their workshops while signing up. Each delegate will attend three workshops with a session on Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon and Saturday Morning. Each workshop is limited to 16 participants and on a first come, first served basis. Some workshops are already nearing capacity. Workshops will be displayed as ‘not available’ when they have reached capacity.

Awards Ceremony
On Friday evening our famous Awards dinner will again be open to all delegates attending Get Active. This year we’ll have food from around the world and special guests including Gordon McKay, UNISON President, Kendal Bromley-Bewes, Chair of UNISON’s Young Members Forum and Tan Teddy, Caribbean Singing Group.

Nominations are now open and Branches are encouraged to submit them here: https://southwest.unison.org.uk/get-active-awards.

Delegate Costs / Expenses
Get Active fees are charged to Branches and we have made it clear on our website and Eventbrite booking site that members need authorisation from their Branch to attend. The cost, for the two day event including awards ceremony is:

  • £25 for first time attendees
  • £50 for delegates who have been before

Branches are responsible for all costs associated with attending the event including travel and accommodation. We hope that you will do all you can to support members to attend.

Torbay Local Government, North Devon Health and Royal Devon and Exeter Health Branches have sent specific e-mails out to all their members advising that they will cover all associated costs which it is hoped will encourage those who are a little unsure about asking their Branch. If you’d like a copy of this mailing please let us know.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
