February is LGBT+ History Month, which celebrates LGBT+ people and promotes LGBT+ equality and diversity. UNSION has a presentation that covers UNISON LGBT+ workplace
history, which you can use for workplace activities and celebrations. It’s perfect for online events!

Training for Disabled Members Branch Officers and Contacts
Are you a Disabled Members’ branch officer or contact or a UNISON Disabled member who wants to get more active in your branch? The online training to be held in January is fully booked but more dates will be coming soon.

3 February is Time to Talk Day
This awareness day aims to get people talking about mental health and break the silence around mental health problems. Use the day as an opportunity to bargain for mental health policies in your branch.

UNISON Makes the Case for Better Disability Benefits
UNISON has responded to the government’s green paper on disability and health welfare benefits, Shaping Future Support. The union has called for an end to the cap on Access to Work, changes to PIP (Personal Independence Payments), and radical changes to Universal Credit. We await the government’s response.

Conversion Therapy

The UK Government has extended the consultation deadline on banning conversion therapy. The new deadline is 4 February. UNISON members are urged to submit their views to the consultation.

Stand Up To Racism and TUC Conference: Fighting for Anti-racist Workplaces
On Saturday 5 February, trade unionists and workplace activists from across Britain will come together online to talk about how we oppose the government’s racist offensive.
Topics covered include the Nationality and Borders Bill, the widely criticised Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities report, and organising for race equality.

Violence Against Women and Girls
The Ministry of Justice has announced that new measures targeted directly at keeping women and girls safer will be added to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
