Below is a copy of the letter that we will send to all members who are recorded as social workers on our system.

Dear Social Work Member
Have your say on how Social Work England regulates social workers
The Department for Education (DfE) is consulting on legislative changes to how Social Work England (SWE) operates as the professional regulator for social workers in England.
The consultation document is here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/changes-to-social-work-englandsregulatory-framework
UNISON was not engaged in developing the legislative changes and feels key issues relating to social worker fitness to practice have not been properly considered. We want your feedback on the positions we propose to adopt by completing our short online survey:
https://survey.alchemer.eu/s3/90450684/Changes-to-the-regulatory-framework-for-SocialWork-England
The survey is anonymous and shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes to complete. The closing date is 5pm Friday 6 May.
The survey also includes a link to a current SWE consultation on regulatory changes they propose to make which do not require legislation, on which you are also invited to comment.
Your feedback will help shape UNISON’s responses to DfE and SWE and we will share the survey results and our responses with members in due course.
